Apple BBQ Sauce

Making homemade BBQ sauce is super easy and super delicious. I've made a few different sauces this summer, but I seem to keep coming back to this one.

The original recipe is courtesy of Chuck Hughes from Chucks Day Off on the Food Network. I've made it a few different times and tweaked it and now make it like this.

Apple BBQ Sauce

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
 Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp smoked paprika ( use regular paprika if you don't have smoked paprika)
1 cup apple sauce (250 ml)
1 cup ketchup (250 ml)
1/2 cup honey (125 ml)
2 tbsp molasses (60 ml)
2 tbsp cup soy sauce (60 ml)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (15 ml)
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tsp of hot sauce (tabasco, etc...)

DIRECTIONS:
Cook the onions and garlic in the olive oil until they are soft but not browned. Season with salt and pepper and then add the apple sauce. Let the sauce heat up and then add the ketchup until that it simmering. Add the honey, molasses, soy sauce and Worcestershire and stir. Add the lemon juice and hot sauce and then the paprika.

Bring to a simmer and serve with what you can use BBQ sauce on.
